    GENERAL DESCRIPTION.
    -hooked bill
    -black,white,gray
    -slim tail
    -large head
    -easily confused with mockingbirds
    -migrates from canada to mid-westeren states
    REPRODUCTION
    -return to canada to breed
    -start mating at a year old
    -lays eggs april-may
    -often with different mates
    -average of 6 eggs
    -16 day incubation period
    - leave their parents after 6 weeks.
    DIET.
    -insects
    -amphibians
    -small reptiles
    -small mammals
    -other small birds
    Niche
    -predator
    -eats potentially harmful insects
    LEVEL ON THE LIST.
    -endangered in both the United States, and Pennslyvania.
    WHY?
    -collisions with motor vehicles
    -loss of sustainable habitats
    -alot of dust surrounding shrike territories
    HELP?
    -maintain farm and roadsides
