General Description-
  • Large Fish eating birds
  • May be larger than 2 feet in length and can have a wing span up to six feet.
  • Dark brown on their top and white on the bottom.
  • Have prominent dark eye stripes, black patches at the crooks of the wings, which are bent.
  • They mate with only one mate.
  • They have roughly three eggs a year, every year.
  • They usually nest in large trees, but can nest on telephone poles, chimneys, and man made platforms.
  • They live anywhere near open water with enough fish.
  • Found in PA in the Susquehanna Valley and the Pocono regions.
  • They are found on all continents except antarctic.
  • It is only listed as "Least Concerned" for the USA.
